Dortmund Move for Manchester City Winger Oscar Bobb Gains Momentum

By Footbalio

Dortmund is engaged in discussions with Manchester City to sign up Oscar Bobb, a winger, who has several credible sources. This 22-year old Norwegian would be able to negotiate an initial loan agreement with a possibility to buy the transfer on a permanent basis in the summer of next year.

According to reports by Fabrizio Romano, Dortmund are in talks of a loan-to-buy deal which could be worth approximately 30 million pounds. The transaction has been said to be subject to Manchester City making a purchase of Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, which would pave the way to the exit of Bobb.

Dortmund is also reported by Jack Gaughan of Mail Sport as leaders in the loan deal, pointing to the club gambling on young talents like Jadon Sancho. This is reflected by Sky Sports and talkSPORT, which says that, as other clubs such as Atlético Madrid, Sevilla, Newcastle, and Crystal Palace are tracking Bobb, at present, it is Dortmund that is showing the most interest.

This season, Bobb has played 15 matches with City in all competitions, and he has spent 741 minutes playing and has assisted one goal. The sporting places have restricted his time on the field, and the transfer would be appealing to his career growth. In 2025, the Norwegian winger agreed to a new long-term contract with City, and he has stayed at the club until June 2029.

The suggested loan agreement would enable Bobb to have regular first-team exposure in the Bundesliga. City is also said to be demanding protective clauses, such as possible buy-back and sell-on percentages, in case Dortmund decides to make the transfer permanent. This strategy can be compared to how the City handled the past cases of young talents who shifted to other clubs.

The sporting director of Dortmund has already complemented the history of the club with young players, and this is why Bobb can succeed in Germany. It is seen by fans and pundits to be a natural progression of the winger in a bid to ensure regular minutes and also to further his career within a club that is known to bring out young talents.

There is still no consensus, and the negotiations are still going on. According to sources, the receivers of the deal are moving in the right direction, yet the sale of Semenyo by City is a major determinant. The interest of Dortmund highlights that they are still looking forward to bolstering their team during the January window.

The possibility of Oscar Bobb transferring to Dortmund can be seen as an opportunity for the Norwegian to rejuvenate his season. Under an organised loan and option-to-buy deal, both clubs are looking to gain strategically, with City having more players in the squad and Dortmund with its development model.
